On the discussion on eLearning in a Corporate Setting by Eddie Mendoza, CEO, Lumens Solutions, Inc.
The discussion will revolve on the challenges in establishing e-learning as a viable training methodology for companies. It will list some of the organizational change issues, and give an opportunity for participants to share what they have experienced and to appreciate the unique challenges of corporate training.
Thoughts on the Kapihan sa PeLS Topics
Some thoughts on the topics
1. Personal Learning Environments
When do you need one?
- When decision makers at the top of the organization are open to the idea of having a dot.com with a dot.org layer. (See Espen Andersen on the second law of the Internet)
Can you use this in an intranet?
Any examples on how it is used locally?
Some links that might be useful:

"Some Thoughts/Assumptions on Education and Technology" from Swiftkick (Note: a tad partial to elgg)
2. Creative Commons
Is my content protected automatically since I authored it?
Do I need to explicitly say what type of license I am releasing my work?
Shouldn't the academe go for open licenses and the industry for restrictive ones?
3. eLearning in a Corporate Setting
Is there a simple way to corporate eLearning?
Outsourcing vs developing in-house: What is the local trend?
Projections/Observations on Corporate eLearning in the next 3 years
4. TESDA and eLearning in Korea
What are the immediate opportunities in TESDA?
Please talk about the business side of TESDA.
Do I retain copyright/(whatever rights) or TESDA gets everything
Sample projects that TESAD "bought" or commissioned
Describe eLearning in Korea. Is the Philippines going this route?

Working together using this wiki
Think of this wiki as a shared online whiteboard. Your entire group can share information using this wiki, making your research accessible to everyone. Play around with this wiki: Notice how you can add comments to a page, see what people have changed, and edit all the text.
Don't worry, there is a way to recover "lost entries"). So broad and deep collaboration is encouraged. You can, for example post questions, or suggest topics.
For starters, what follows from "Hi All" to Jun Asis on behalf of the PeLS Board" were copied and pasted :
Hi All,

expert himself.
The various eLearning topics are:
1. Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) using Elgg by Joel
Yuviengco, Social Media Technologist, DLS Canlubang
This talk is not an argument to promote a replacement for
Learning Management Systems like Moodle nor a proposition to do away
with Content Management Systems like Drupal which are all well and good
as far as the promotion of open source systems is concerned. This is
rather an exposition on the Theory, Tools and Techniques around Personal
Learning Systems.
In particular it's about an open source Personal Learning Landscape
which is now broadly called a tool for Social Networking by its main
developers Ben Werdmuller and David Tosh, both based in the UK. A
History of PLEs can be found at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_personal_learning_environments
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_personal_learning_environments>
Broad framework of this talk is what is loosely called the 2D2C
(Discover. Disclose. Connect. Co-create) of Social Software-based
learning.
2. eLearning and Creative Commons by Atty. Michael Vernon Guererro,
Arellano University School of Law
"The iCommons Summit, an event in which 300 people from over 50
countries gathered to celebrate and strategize around a free Internet
for all, was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 14-17 June 2007. One of the
four tracks pursued during the main summit of 15-17 June 2007 (June 14
being the legal day, where the Creative Commons licenses were discussed)
was that of the Open Education track, composed of various workshops such
as "Collaborating on Open Education," "Open Educational Project Clinic,"
"Policy, Practice, and Pragmatism," "Propagating the Meme (Sharing
Practices to Scale Open Education)," and "Towards an Open Future for
Education." In said track, in one of the sessions, many open source
projects were presented: OER Commons (through Amee Godwin), Free High
School Science Textbooks [FHSST] (through Joanne Boulle), WikiEducator
(through Steve Foerster), One Laptop per Child (through SJ Klein),
National Education License for Schools [NEALS] (through Delia Browne),
Acawiki (through Neeru Paharia), Educalibre (through Werner Westermann),
Meadan (through Ed Bice), LeMill (through Hans Poldoja), among others.
The emphasis on community participation was made for the success or for
some initial success so far, of projects that a parallel emphasis on
international community participation was being made towards the
development of an international open education movement (especially
during the track's last session for the summit). Now, being aware of the
developments about open education overseas, how is the Philippine
community being built towards open education, e-Learning, etc. within
this jurisdiction?"
3. eLearning in a Corporate Setting by Eddie Mendoza, CEO, Lumens
Solutions, Inc.
The discussion will revolve on the application of e-learning in an
organizational setting.
4. TESDA Initiative and Updates from Korea by Ninia Calaca,
University of Sto. Tomas.
The government, through TESDA is turning to eLearning as an alternative
and complement to formal learning. There are opportunities for content
creators for collaboration.
The resource person will also talk about her experiences from her recent
trip to Korea.
We would appreciate advance questions on any of the topics from
participants in order to make the discussions more focused.
See you there!
